About
A small team and a shared conviction
Art Initiatives is a cultural association rooted in contemporary art, cultural exchange and social impact. It was founded in 2024 by Johanna Driest and is run by a small team that believes an afternoon around art can reach much further than the room it happens in.
How it started
The project builds on years of curating, international collaboration, and above all on Johanna Driest’s involvement with Anno’s One Fine Day in Kibera, Nairobi. That work shaped a simple conviction: fine art shouldn’t stop at “art for art”. It can be a catalyst for empowerment, learning and meaningful change.
Art Initiatives held its first event in October 2024. The response from the island was so warm that we decided to continue the work, and in 2025 Art Initiatives became its own association.
Each edition explores a different question of our time through contemporary art, and supports Anno’s One Fine Day in Kibera every year, together with a cause in the Balearic Islands that changes with every event. We keep connecting artists, audiences and cultural contexts, and Ibiza with perspectives far beyond the island.
Anno’s One Fine Day is run by Krysteen Savane, and One Fine Day was founded by Marie Steinmann and Tom Tykwer. Johanna Driest was involved in helping them reach a milestone: the construction of the Anno’s One Fine Day Arts Centre, which finally provided a safe space for their activities.
